The summer when the world

was hazy around the edges

The sky too close to breathe

Earth and heaven melted, soft and smeared

In oil pastel

I myself stretched out

blended, indistinct

Through shades of color

In shadows without borders

Light without angles

Waiting at the impression of an end

For cooler winds to water my eyes clear

and dry the world into stark relief
